Sony’s place–shifting technology is called LocationFree TV. It comes with a base station, and optional 7–inch or 12–inch mobile LCD screen. The base station can take audio/video inputs from DVRs, DVD players, or webcams. It then transmits the audio/video through the internet (On the Go Mode) or wirelessly throughout the house (Home Mode).

Detailed features of LocationFree TV Are:

  • Transmits audio/video wirelessly for up to 100 feet.
  • Transmits audio/video through the Internet to:
    • LocationFree 7 inch or 12 inch mobile LCD monitor
    • Any PC with Windows XP or Windows 2000
    • PSP (version 2.5 or higher required)
  • Inputs:
  • Output to only one device (LCD monitor, PC, PSP) at a time
  • Virtual remote used to control DVR, DVD player, or TV.
  • Dual band 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz wireless (Home Mode)
