PocketPC Example – UT Starcom XV6700
Verizon’s UT Starcom XV6700 smartphone is just one of the many PocketPC PDA phones available today (Sprint has the same phone listed under Audiovox’s PPC-6700). PocketPC phones run Windows Mobile software to give you the same feel as a regular Windows desktop. All the familiar features such as the start button, control panel, and taskbar are there. See below for UT Starcom XV6700’s list of features.
Palm Example – Treo 700
The latest Palm Treo comes with either Windows Mobile software (700w) or Palm OS software (700p). The Treo 700w is Palm’s first attempt in using Windows Mobile software. The fact that it was first released on a PDA phone shows the PDA phone’s increased popularity. The 700p uses the easy–to–use Palm operating system, which has a long history in PDA apps such as checking e-mail, contacts, and to–do lists. See below for the Treo 700 list of features.
