Frame grabs were captured using a HTPC with a HD and SD capture card. To help speed up downloads, both HD and SD frame grabs were proportionally reduced in size, and were JPEG compressed to 90% of their original quality. Clicking on the frame grab will bring up the original uncompressed image.

All the examples in the Popular Shows and Football sections were recorded in the 720p format while all of the Olympic examples were recorded in the 1080i format. The HD football examples show how some of the players are missing in the SD versions.

The cutouts were taken straight from the original frame grabs, and enlarged to give you a better comparison of high definition vs. standard definition TV.

Thanks to NBC, ABC, and Fox television networks for pushing high definition technology and allowing the use of their frame grabs.
